Wild Wood Adventure!

Ghyll Royd pupil sawing firewood

If you go down in the woods today, you might find Form 6! The class have been to Middleton Woods to meet Mrs Wood for a full day of Forest Schools!

We started the day by meeting Mrs Wood at the Lido and walked up to Middleton Woods. Once there, we collected wood. People in the class took it in turns lighting the fire and others used a saw to chop up firewood. We played forest games while the fire grew until it was hot enough to start cooking. We cooked our own burgers for lunch and ate them around the campfire! They were really tasty, made more rewarding because we cooked them ourselves.

After lunch we searched for more wood. This time, we needed long branches and logs to build dens. In groups, we made shelters. We hope that the shelters are used by other children or even woodland animals!

Thank you to Mrs Wood for a brilliant day!
