Personal, Social and Health Education
Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) enables children to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage our pupils to play a positive role in school and the wider community. We teach them how society is organised and governed, and we ensure that they experience the process of democracy in school through the school council. We teach them about rights and responsibilities by connecting their learning with our six core values:
- Care and Courtesy
- Consideration and Co-operation
- Creativity and Challenge
Through PSHE, children can appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse multicultural society.
Our pupils are given opportunities in PSHE & Citizenship lessons to develop confidence, self-motivation and an understanding of their rights and responsibilities in society. PSHE is taught throughout our curriculum in both dedicated PSHE lessons, in assemblies, and other subjects including Mathematics, Literacy, Geography, History and Religious Education. Regular guest speakers, educational visits, community projects and charity fundraising also help contribute to the development of our pupils.
