PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education enables a Ghyll Royd pupil to become healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage our pupils to play a positive role in school and the wider community. We teach them how society is organised and governed, and ensure that they experience the process of democracy throughout our school activities, including the School Council. We teach them about rights and responsibilities by connecting their learning with our six core values:

  • Care and Courtesy
  • Consideration and Co-operation
  • Creativity and Challenge

Through PSHE, children appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse multicultural society.

Our children are given opportunities in PSHE & Citizenship lessons to develop confidence, self-motivation and self-realisation. PSHE is taught throughout our curriculum in both dedicated PSHE lessons, in assemblies and in across other subjects. Regular guest speakers, educational visits, school-led community projects and charity fundraising further contribute to the development of our pupils.
