The Staff and Governors at Ghyll Royd School, Pre-School and Nursery are just one of the reasons we have such a wonderful school. Many have been with us for a number of years which provides excellent continuity for the children and our specialist teachers offer a unique learning experience.
Early Years Teaching Staff
Mrs Helen Hudson – Reception Class Teacher and Early Years Phase Leader – BA (Hons) PGCE Primary
Mrs Hudson has been an Early Years Teacher for 23 years. She gained a BA (Hons) Degree in English and Education with Qualified Teacher status at Leeds Trinity College. Mrs Hudson has taught in the Reception class and Nursery settings most recently at Westville House School. Mrs Hudson has been the EYFS Leader for the last 8 years and is very experienced in the Independent Sector, understanding the private education system.
Early Years Practitioners
Mrs Jenny Johnson – Room Leader Great Explorers
Mrs Johnson has a BA (Hons) in Combined Arts which included Early Education followed by a MA in Art History. She studied for an International Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy (Level 5) and has worked for the last 8 years as an EYFS practitioner in Early Years settings in the local area. Her last post was at Bankfield Nursery at Harrogate Ladies College where she worked as an EYFS Practitioner. She has a real passion for outdoor learning, including Forest Schools.
Miss Coulton – Key Person
Miss Coulton has worked in Pre-School for five years and holds a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and a Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce (Early Learning and Childcare). Miss Coulton is in her final year of completing a BA (Hons) Degree in Early Childhood Studies.
Mrs Julia Davis – Room Leader Little Adventurers
Mrs Davis has worked in Early Years for 15 years. Mrs Davis is Makaton trained and has a Level 3 in Nursery Management. Mrs Davis is currently working towards a BA (Hons) in Early Years and Education
Mrs Katherine Watson – Key Person Little Adventurers
Mrs Watson has worked in Early years for over 20 years, she has level 3 in BTEC Early Years Childcare and Education. She has previously worked at Westville House School for 14 years in Early Years and Key Stage 1.
Early Years Teaching Assistants
Mrs Stacey Ellis – BA (Hons) Childhood Studies
Mrs Ellis has worked in Early Years for twenty years. Mrs Ellis has a Degree in Early Childhood Studies and holds the NNEB qualification. Mrs Ellis is now working towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma and is helping with KS1 and 2 and the Early Years.
