Elections for our next Head pupil were held on Thursday 12th July. Nine Form 5 pupils applied for the position before being individually interviewed by Mr Martin.
The next stage of the election process was to stand up in front of the whole school to deliver a speech. The nine standing explained why they would make a good head pupil. Each speech was delivered confidently and really touched on the Ghyll Royd values. Well done to all who took the time to prepare a speech and had the courage to stand up and speak.
Mr Martin would like to announce our new Head Boy Archie and new Head Girl Juliet! The pair will share the responsibilities of the head pupil for the next school year. Archie and Juliet are polite, confident and friendly representatives of Ghyll Royd. They will help their peers with any concerns or questions they may have. The pair will take over from fantastic Head Pupil Ava!
At Ghyll Royd, our leadership roles awarded to Form 6 pupils gives the younger children a pupil they can speak to about issues or ideas. The different roles on offer include Head Pupil, Sports Captains, Eco Council, School Council and Prefects. There are other roles and Form 6 are given weekly duties to look after areas of the school too. The leadership roles prepare our pupils for secondary school and also act as a reminder for pupils to use our six key values.
A very well done to Archie and Juliet!
