Walk This Way!

Children in Form 4 are researching ways we can save energy. Pupils are collating evidence in school and at home to share ways in which we can all do our bit for the environment.

Forms 3 and 4 toured Ghyll Royd this week to examine the energy being used and/or wasted in classrooms, corridors, offices and outside. The children picked up on radiators, computer screens left on, among other things. Form 4 then stepped outside and looked at the minibus and thought about whether they could walk anywhere instead of using it.

On Thursday morning, Form 4 set off walking from Ilkley Pool after their swimming lesson to Ghyll Royd. Carrying placards and banners made at home and with Mrs Smith in Art, the children marched over 12,000 steps from the pool back to school. It took some time, but it was a pleasant walk and the children marched joyfully through Ilkley, stopping briefly for a snack.

Well done Form 4 for your contribution in doing your bit for the environment and for raising awareness. We look forward to hearing the full report of how Ghyll Royd can be ever greener!
