Pupils LOVE Tennis Workshop

Following in the footsteps of Yorkshire tennis star Kyle Edmund, this week Key Stage One pupils enjoyed a workshop with a local pro.

Adam from Ilkley Tennis Club coached children in Reception, Form 1 and Form 2 the basics of tennis during their regular PE session. Children were taught the best way to throw the ball and how to use a racket, as well as the rules of tennis.

During the main part of the session, pupils were separated with one side for throwers and the other side with children hitting the tennis ball back over the net. This required good communication and hand-eye coordination from both sides.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and showed an interest in learning a new sport. Ilkley Tennis Club’s ‘Search for a Star’ open day is on Sunday 4th February 2018. For more details visit the Tennis club website.
