Digital da Vinci’s Enjoy New Curriculum

The start of a new term has brought with it an exciting new addition to the curriculum.

Digital Art is an extension of the wonderfully enriched arts offering here at Ghyll Royd School, in addition to our Art, Pottery, Drama and Music lessons.

In Form 3’s lesson with Miss Smith, they got to grips with the programme’s software and created a symmetrical pattern. Pupils were asked to draw a ladybird then colour it in. Once their ladybirds had been drawn and coloured in, the image was copied and duplicated across the page to make a continuous pattern. The class had then successfully made their own wrapping paper pattern.

In Form 4, The children were asked to make a butterfly and then choose a colour and pattern for its wings. Sophie made a butterfly with unicorn colourings and Freddie gave his butterfly bright red wings.

The Digital Art lessons aim to introduce a new form of art to the children where they can also learn about the digital tools and technological language used in modern day design.
