Harvest Festival 2017

This year’s Harvest service was beautifully organised by Music Teacher Mrs Coultas. Parents and grandparents all came along to watch the service, to listen to the pupils sing and tell the story of the seven-day creation.

Canon Grey, known to most of us as Father Philip, told a story about money and its real value which got the children thinking about what is real and what is a myth.

Bea and Evie, both in Form 6, performed a beautiful duet which accompanied a concert filled with song and dance from our Early Years to Key Stage Two choirs. The concert finished with parents joining in with the well-known song ‘He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands’.

Pupils were asked to create a donation box to bring to school. The donation boxes illustrated the seven-day creation and were filled with a variety of foods which were then donated to Churches Together in Ilkley’s food bank. Mr Ribbands from Churches Together in Ilkley watched the service and collected the food on the Churches’ behalf.

Ramsay and Tom helped Mr Ribbands with the donations.

Nelson House also ran a separate collection for a food bank which received a great range of food including pasta, chocolate, tinned vegetables and sauces.

Thank you to all of you who donated, you’ve helped a really great cause!
