On Saturday 14th October, Ghyll Royd School hosted the second event in this year’s Wharfedale League Cross Country series. Twelve competing schools gathered on the field at Greystone Manor to compete and spectate in the 14 races. The rain fortunately held off and the mild weather made it a pleasant morning for all.
Well done to each and every child that came down to take part in the Cross Country. We are immensely proud of our Reception Boys team. This was the first ever Cross Country for these boys and they all turned up and played their part, resulting in coming 2nd place for their team. Year 5 girls also placed 3rd as a team which shows the importance of working together.
Thank you to the Ilkley Harriers who organise and coordinate this fantastic event for the local schools. Thank you to Ghyll Royd staff for your help in coordinating the day, and thank you to teachers and caterers for the lovely bacon sandwiches! Proceeds from the food and drink sold will go towards the Educate the Kids charity.
Results from each race can be viewed on the Ilkley Harriers website. The next Cross Country event is at Ben Rhydding Primary School on Saturday 11th November 2017. Take a look at photos from the day.
