The Wheels on the Bus go…

Key Stage One’s learning challenge this term is: “Where do the wheels on the bus go?”

Mrs Downes, Miss Brown and Miss Baker talked to Forms 1 and 2 about the wheel and its purpose before the children got started making their own!

We coloured in two paper plates each and stuck them to the ends of a kitchen roll tube. We then sat in a circle to show each other the wheels we had made.

The teachers asked us how we could make the wheels moved, and we tried out different methods of pushing and pulling. We tried sideways, but that wouldn’t work. We tried on its side, but the best way was back and forth.

We pushed and pulled the kitchen roll tube which made the wheels rotate with them.

The Learning Challenge Curriculum is built around the principle of greater learner involvement in the child’s work resulting in a more vibrant and exciting learning experience. The children will combine their learning of this topic through a range of subjects including geography, science, music and art.
