Alexander in Form 5 has become the youngest ever recipient of the Ghyll Royd Shield!
The shield is awarded to pupils when they reach 700 House Points through good behaviour, an excellent attitude, and through the effort shown in academic and specialist subjects. Usually, pupils who are awarded the shield do not reach 700 Points until their final year.
Our Music Maestro, Alexander is leader of the Key Stage Two ensemble, who has wowed peers, parents and staff with his guitar and piano playing. Earlier in the year, Alexander received a Distinction in both his Grade 1 Piano and Guitar exams, and received full marks (21/21) in his sight reading for both instruments – something Music Teacher Mrs Coultas says she has never seen before in her teaching career.
Not only a spectacular, promising young musician, Alexander is a credit to Ghyll Royd with his display of the school’s values and his application to all subjects, tasks and work.
Form 5 Teacher Mr Nicholson said: “I’m immensely proud of Alexander for his wonderful achievement. He persistently works hard in class and sets a great example to his peers by following the 6 Cs: Care, Courtesy, Consideration, Co-operation, Concentration and Challenge.”
The star pupils has said he is very pleased to have received 700 house points during his time at Ghyll Royd. And Alexander’s classmates are extremely pleased, particularly those in House Drake who he has helped win the cup for most House Points in the end of year assembly!
Alexander has also been appointed Deputy Head Boy for next year working alongside classmate and Deputy Head Girl Bea.
Congratulations to Alexander! Here he is in assembly treating pupils to a popular tune:
