Little Adventurers spent last term turning part of their garden into a beautiful flower and vegetable patch.
We’ve been learning about how things grow, and how we must look after things to help them grow. Using our fine motor skills, we picked up rakes and shovels to dig up the soil for our seeds.
We took it in turns to dig and shared the work. Mrs Davis really helped by explaining how our work would help the plants grow.
Once we had evened out the soil, we planted the seeds in the different areas of the garden. We planted sweet pea, broad bean, tomato and sunflower seeds. We covered the seeds up, then – PAT PAT PAT – patted the soil down with the back of our spades. We then took it in turns to water the patch because water is like food which helps the seeds grow into big flowers and plants.
Every day we are checking on our patch, seeing if it needs any more water, and watching as the plants begin to sprout out of the soil and into the sky! We posed with our sunflower pots which are almost as big as we are.
