To continue with their learning topic of travel and journeys, the Great Explorers and Reception class have conducted their very own traffic surveys.
The children perched their clipboards against the fence by Ilkley Road and watched as many different vehicles passed by.
Cars, motorbikes, lorries, buses: one by one the children had to mark off a vehicle that they had spotted to learn more about their environment and the different modes of transport.
This activity tested the children’s attentiveness to the types of vehicle and their numeracy skills as they had to mark and the count up how many different vehicles they saw.
The classes found that there were more cars passing than any other vehicle.
Reception also conducted a survey of colours in the car park. They walked around the teacher’s car park and tallied up the different coloured cars that they could see to see which was most popular.
