For Form 1 and 2’s Art lesson, Mrs Smith took the children outside to discover what beautiful, natural colours can be found outdoors.
In pairs, we had a palette with a different piece of coloured paper in each section. Mrs Smith set the class a task to find as many different blue, red, yellow, green, orange and grey objects as possible from just looking around the woodland area.
We chose objects that were no longer alive, such as flowers that may have been trodden on or had been cut or branches from trees so that we wouldn’t disturb the growing plants.
We found all sorts of colours:
- Yellow dandelions
- Brown conker shells
- Bluebell petals
- Red tree bark
Finding so many natural colours in just one small area was fantastic and really got us to think about our environment – and more specifically, our learning challenge topic: ‘What is and where is our environment?’
Next week, we are going to create pictures with the objects that we have collected today.
