Stay and Play – Summer Term

Our latest Stay and Play session made the most of the summer sunshine as we headed outdoors for Art Splash!

We never let any bad weather stop us from going outside, but when it’s sunny, it’s so nice to be able to take learning outdoors.

We split sessions into two and one group headed upstairs for Little Notes – our Music session, whilst the other group stayed downstairs for Art Splash before swapping over.

In Little Notes we crashed, shook, clanged, hit and waved our fun instruments in the air and made all sorts of dance moves and musical sounds. We sit in a circle to listen and watch Mrs Coultas lead the session who is so much fun!

Downstairs, Mrs Smith pinned paper up against the brick wall in the Little Adventurers playground and grabbed the paints so we could be outdoor artists!

We had a big choice of colours to choose from and we painted the paper to make different shapes and strokes. Painting on an outdoor canvas allowed us to be creative, messy and practice our fine motor skills as we held the brushes.

Then it was playtime! We played in the sandpit, on the slide, in the tunnel, read stories, drank juice and made lots of new friends.

Stay and Play runs between 9.30am and 11.00am on Fridays (term time only) at Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School. Booking is not required and refreshments are provided. Find out more about our Stay and Play sessions.
