“We made the decision to send our daughter to Ghyll Royd after we missed out on places at the state schools of our choice. It was absolutely the right decision. We couldn’t be happier with the school. The quality of teaching, small class sizes and high teacher/pupil ratio mean that children receive more individual attention and work can be tailored to individual children’s needs where appropriate. The varied curriculum, with a focus on art, language, music, sport and outdoor learning also means pupils receive a well-rounded education and have the opportunity to participate in many extra activities throughout the week. As a result, our daughter has blossomed during her reception year at Ghyll Royd. She has made fantastic progress, especially in reading and phonics. If you ask her what her favourite thing is about school, her reply is always: “I just love learning, mummy.” The school is very inclusive and incredibly welcoming for both pupils and parents. We were made to feel part of the school’s family as soon as we made the decision to send our daughter. The many events throughout the year, combined with an open-door policy for parents to talk to teaching staff, provide plenty of opportunity to immerse yourself in your child’s learning. In short, we couldn’t recommend Ghyll Royd highly enough.”
“Ghyll Royd is a warm, friendly school, one which encourages each and every child to do their very best. The pupils are to be commended on their manners, their politeness and their obvious pride in their school. The pupils are so well prepared for their secondary school of choice, achieving excellent entrance exam results, many with scholarships. We can’t recommend Ghyll Royd enough.”
“Our children started at Ghyll Royd just over a term ago and from day 1 they have both loved it. The school has helped grow their confidence and has given them the opportunity to take part in so many different activities and new learning experiences. The staff and the other parents have been so welcoming and supportive – we couldn’t have asked for any more!”
“Our oldest son already attended another school in the area but when they shut their pre-school we had a dilemma as to what to do with our younger son – keep him at nursery another year or move both children to Ghyll Royd. We had no problems deciding that our youngest son should start in the Pre-School but agonised over whether to move our eldest from a school he had settled into. Our eldest son used to be shy and quiet. After a few years at his previous school he had just started to show his true colours and we didn’t want to set him back by moving him. Eventually we made the decision to move both children to Ghyll Royd and have never looked back. We as parents couldn’t have been supported more in settling our boys in. Parents were on hand to give advice on the practical things, the staff were available to talk to and provide reassurance that my boys had settled in and all the children were polite, friendly and willing to help Josh and Casper settle into the school routine. Although Josh, our eldest, did struggle for a few weeks, he soon started to show his true colours again! My only regret is not discovering Ghyll Royd sooner.”
“We were overwhelmed by the family atmosphere when we first looked around Ghyll Royd, and this remains an overriding positive about the school. This environment provides the perfect foundation to develop the individual potential of each individual child, no matter what that is. Ghyll Royd will always look for ways to build the confidence of children and provide them with really important lifeskills that are very much recognised and appreciated by the secondary schools in the area. The children mix really well between all the age groups, with older pupils enjoying helping little one’s with lunch and clubs for example, and and the younger girls and boys appreciating being involved in the older pupils’ games, or being part of a house team for a quiz or sports event.
Ghyll Royd is a very special place.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for welcoming Millie so nicely. She is thoroughly enjoying coming which can be seen in the fact that she wants to come more often! I really made the right decision in sending her to Ghyll Royd.”
