Super-callig-fragilistic

Mrs Smith held the very first Calligraphy Club session on Monday lunchtime.

Key Stage Two pupils were invited to try their hand at writing the alphabet using two attached pencils. Doodling with double pencils is a very good introduction to learning how thick and thin strokes are formed.

Mrs Smith had created a template for the children to trace to understand how the shapes are constructed before using a blank page to try it themselves.

By practicing with pencils, pupils can then learn how to hold and use a calligraphy pen to create beautiful writing.

The club will help pupils with their handwriting but also allow them to enhance their creativity. Handwriting is a taught subject in France as it is believed that the creative subjects allow the pupils’ minds to perform creatively throughout their lives.
