Awesome Athletes

Our pupils continue to amaze us daily with their extracurricular achievements! This week we’ve had much to celebrate as we have received news of several sporting success stories. Take a look at them below!

Cricket

Charlie and Nicholas in Form 5 have had two cricket trials over the last two weeks for both the U10 and U11s Taverners Cricket Squad. The Taverners team is the cricket team for the Leeds Schools and held its trials at North Leeds Cricket Club last week.

Over 40 eager young cricketers tried out for the squad including Charlie and Nicholas, and we are delighted to announce that they have both qualified for the U11s team – an age group one year older than the boys!

Only 15 cricketers have made the squad making the pupils’ achievement even more fantastic! A very well done to Charlie and Nicholas! Check out these action shots!

Jiu-Jitsu

Freddie in Form 3 had his Jiu-jitsu grading at Otley Health and Martial Arts Centre last week. He had to demonstrate the skills he has learnt with the club to move up a belt classification.

A very well done to Freddie who has been given the green light to go and progress to a junior green belt!

Golf

Gabriel in Form 1 brought his wonderful medal into school this morning after winning in his age category by six shots at Bawtry Golf Club on Sunday. The win was part of the latest stage of the European Junior Golf Tour.

The European Golf champion for his age group has also been accepted to compete in the US Kids Venice Open in August! Fantastic news Gabriel and best of luck with your summer competitions!

Running

Over half term, Verity in Form 5 and her family took part in the Abersoch 3K beach race. She did very well taking 48th place out of 330 participants, and was 3rd place in the U11 girls category.

Dance

Back in England, Verity has received a special merit and the Margaret Kaupe Junior Musicality Award at the Northern Dance Centre.

Two amazing achievements there – well done Verity!
