Girls Netball Match Report – 01.03.2017

Ghyll Royd School 12 – 6 Terrington Hall

Ghyll Royd’s Girls Netball team hosted Terrington Hall on Wednesday 1st March, in a rematch of their 12-21 defeat, by the same team, back at the end of last September.

Confidence was high within the squad, coming off strong performances against Moorlands and Belmont Grosvenor, so expectations amongst the girls and supporters was sky-high.

GRS came out of the blocks flying, taking a 4-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. Terrington had no answer for GRS’ quick attacking play. They got into the game in the second quarter but GRS still held a 7-2 lead at the half.

GRS, notoriously slow starters in third quarters, got pinned back by Terrington who scored 3 quick goals in succession. GRS never looked like they had lost control however and went into the last period of the game 9-6 up. GRS’ quicker ball skills proved the deciding factor in the fourth quarter as GRS pulled easily away from their opponents, winning 12-6 at the end.

GRS Netball is now on an unbeaten streak that stretches back to the 30th November 2016. Our last game of the season is against Fulneck in a couple of weeks; the girls will be out to finish their season in winning style against a formidable team. Good luck!
