Personal Tours with the Headteacher

We offer personal visits throughout the academic year, where you will be welcomed by our Headteacher and Business Officer. During your visit, you’ll enjoy a private tour of the school, observing lessons and school life as it happens, giving you an authentic sense of our nurturing and vibrant environment.

You are welcome to:

  • Bring your child with you on your first visit
  • Or, attend your initial appointment on your own and return later with your child

We are flexible and happy to accommodate whatever makes your visit most meaningful.

Drop-In Workshops - Try Ghyll Royd for Yourself

Give your child a taste of life at Ghyll Royd through our fun, educational drop-in workshops, led by our passionate specialist teachers. These free sessions are designed to spark curiosity and build confidence.

Upcoming Workshops:

Year 5 – Creative Arts
Tuesdays, 2:00–3:30pm
Explore music and art in our dedicated studio classrooms. Open to all abilities.

Years 3 & 4 – Learning Challenge
Wednesdays, 2:00–3:30pm
Step into history and discover if the Romans were rotten or regal!

Years 1 & 2 – Physical Education
Fridays, 1:30–3:30pm
Join in fun physical activities in our dedicated sports facilities, great for all levels.

Can’t see your child’s year group? We also offer bespoke workshops based on your child’s interests. Just ask!

Taster Days - Experience a Full Day at Ghyll Royd

We warmly invite children to spend a full day in school as a taster day. This experience allows them to:

  • Meet new friends
  • Join real lessons in class, sport, and the arts
  • Enjoy lunch in our dining room
  • Get a true feel for life at Ghyll Royd

Children can visit at any point in the school year, with the option for multiple visits if needed to ensure a confident transition.

We also offer taster sessions for children aged 2–4 in our Pre-School and Nursery. These gentle, play-based visits allow children to explore and feel comfortable, with parents welcome to stay during the session. We provide two free 2-hour settling-in periods before your child starts, to ensure a happy and secure beginning.
