A Week Full of Wonder at Ghyll Royd Pre-School and Nursery

Every Day is a New Adventure

At Ghyll Royd, our weekly routine is bursting with energy, creativity, and exploration. With a dynamic mix of specialist-led sessions, outdoor discovery, and imaginative play, each day offers something new and exciting for your child to look forward to.

Our Weekly WOWs

Stretch It Out Mondays

We kick off the week with a yoga session that focuses on movement, coordination, and confidence.

Train on Tuesdays

Children are introduced to a variety of fun physical activities while learning about the importance of staying healthy and active. Our inclusive sessions ensure everyone feels encouraged and empowered to get involved.

Musical Wednesdays

Wednesdays always contain a high note with Music sessions led by our wonderful music teacher. From singing and dancing to experimenting with sounds and rhythm, children develop an early love for music and movement in a joyful, expressive environment.

Welly Wednesdays

Rain or shine, we’re outside every day, and Wednesdays are all about outdoor adventures! Whether we’re exploring the school grounds or heading to “Burley Beach,” children have the chance to connect with nature and expand their understanding of the world around them.

Trek Thursdays

After another fun-filled Music session, we head off on an adventure! Thursdays might take us to the woods, out into the village, or on a special trip. Past adventures have included trips to Harlow Carr Gardens, Bluebell Woods, the local garden centre, Hesketh Farm and Tropical World. Our excursions offer immersive learning experiences in exciting new environments.

Flexible Fridays

We wrap up the week with gymnastics in our multi-purpose hall, helping children develop balance, strength, and coordination. Then it’s time to put our wellies back on for more outdoor fun, perhaps a minibeast hunt or a story time session in the woods. Every Friday brings a new opportunity for discovery.

Note: Trips and excursions aren’t limited to Thursdays, they’re scheduled throughout the year so every child can enjoy off-site experiences.

Optional Extras to Enrich Their Week

We offer optional extracurricular sessions with experienced coaches to further enhance your child’s experience:

  • Ballet with Miss BeckyDancing Dolphins (Wednesdays)

This session is designed to develop coordination, rhythm, and teamwork in a fun, supportive setting.

Fresh, Healthy Meals & Snacks

Our on-site catering team prepares restaurant-quality meals daily, using fresh ingredients to fuel young minds and bodies. Weekly menus are available to download from our School Menu page.

Snack Times:

  • Morning snack includes milk and fruit, with occasional birthday treats (cakes welcome, just check for allergies and avoid nuts).
  • Afternoon snacks vary, with options like sandwiches, vegetable sticks, fruit teacakes, mini bagels with cream cheese, houmous with breadsticks, and more, all freshly prepared by our chef.

  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Wellington boots

Whatever the weather, we’ll be exploring, learning, and having fun outside.
