We aspire to continuously provide a nurturing and highly engaging and active educational environment, where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their potential.
We achieve this by encouraging children to consider the schools values; care, courtesy, concentration and challenge, consideration and co-operation in their daily lives.
Living Our Values Every Day
At Ghyll Royd, our shared values are woven into the fabric of everyday school life. These six ‘C’s are not just words on a wall, they are principles lived out by our pupils, staff and families in everything we do:
Care and Courtesy
We nurture and grow relationships built on kindness, empathy, and respect. Children are encouraged to care for themselves, for others, and for the world around them. whether that’s checking in on a friend, tending to the school garden, or supporting a charity fundraiser. Good manners and politeness are modelled and expected from the very start of a child’s Ghyll Royd journey, with high standards for how we speak and interact with one another in all areas of school life.
Consideration and Co-operation
We respectfully listen and foster recognition of diversity, teaching children to think about others and appreciate different perspectives and needs. This is encouraged through classroom discussions, collaborative play, and buddy or mentoring systems. Co-operation is central to how we learn and work together, whether in group projects, sports teams, assemblies or school council, helping children develop the skills of listening, sharing ideas, and working towards shared goals.
Creativity and Challenge
We develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills essential for reaching our potential, knowing that challenge leads to growth. Our staff inspire children to stretch themselves, tackling tricky problems, learning new skills in sport or the arts, or performing on stage. Creativity is encouraged in every subject, and we celebrate effort as much as achievement, encouraging children to embrace challenges with confidence and imagination.
