Taster Days and Settling-In Sessions at Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School
Choosing the right school is a significant decision, and we understand how important it is for your child to feel confident and comfortable in their new environment. At Ghyll Royd, we warmly encourage families to arrange taster days for their children as part of the admissions process.
Taster Days for Pre-Prep and Prep Pupils (Ages 4+)
Children are invited to spend a full day at Ghyll Royd, joining their peer group in the classroom, on the sports field, and in the dining room to enjoy a typical school lunch. These days are a fantastic opportunity for children to:
- Meet future classmates and teachers
- Take part in a normal school day, including a blend of academic subjects, sport, music, drama, and art
- Experience the friendly and inclusive atmosphere of our school
For some children, more than one taster day may be beneficial to support a smooth and confident transition into school life. Taster days are available throughout the academic year and can be arranged at a time that best suits your family.
Taster Sessions for Nursery and Pre-School Children (Ages 2–4)
Younger children are also invited to attend shorter taster sessions in our Pre-School and Nursery, giving them the chance to:
- Explore exciting activities linked to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
- Meet our nurturing early years team
- Take part in some of our specialist sessions, such as music or outdoor learning
Parents are welcome to stay with their child during these initial sessions until they feel confident that their child is ready to be left. Ahead of officially starting, each child is offered two complimentary 2-hour settling-in sessions to help them feel safe, secure, and ready to thrive in their new setting.
