Drop off and collection

The doors of the Pre-School & Nursery open to parents at 7.30am.  We appreciate that any families travel a considerable distance and by opening at this time we hope to enable parents to drop off their children before travelling to work. We have a large car park located directly next to the Pre-School and we have drop off bays for Nursery parents.

Weekly WOWs

At Ghyll Royd Pre-School and Nursery, children receive an enriched and stimulating curriculum from 2 years old which includes Music, PE and Forest Schools. Children are encouraged to learn at Ghyll Royd with our learning through play curriculum which fosters curiosity and exploration of the world around them. We also have an extra special activity for each day of the week.

Move it Mondays

On Mondays we have our PE sessions where we learn about a range of physical activities and build the children’s skills and confidence to participate in sport. We teach children about the importance of health enhancing and inclusive physical activity for everybody!

Treasure Bag Tuesdays

Our show and tell format is a wonderful way for our children to share stories and develop their communication skills. We ask parents to bring in a different object every week to fit with the learning topic. From there we plan various activities where the children can discuss and interact with one another.

Welly Wednesday

We’re outside each and every day, whatever the weather! On Wednesdays we take a trip around the grounds and sometimes to Burley Beach to explore and discover more about the world around us.

Trek Thursdays*

After our Thursday Music session, we head outside! Will we go out to the woods or into Burley? Will we light the campfire? Previous adventures include our visits to Harlow Carr Gardens, Bluebell Woods, Bradford Science and Media Museum, Stephen H Smiths Garden Centre and Bolton Abbey Woods. Our excursions offer a new way of learning for the children in different environments.

Flexible Fridays

The outdoors are just an extension of our classrooms! On Fridays we look after our allotment, explore the changing seasons and learn about the world around us. We don our wellies and head out on an adventure learning about the environment, science and nature. Will we go on a minibeast hunt, or will we have a story in the woods? Each week brings an exciting new activity.

To find out more about some of the things we get up to, head to our News page.

*Trips are not exclusive to Thursdays.

Menu

Thanks to our full time catering staff we have been able to provide restaurant quality school meals, prepared and cooked daily from fresh ingredients.

Uniform

The children’s t-shirts, jumpers, fleece and pinafores can be purchased here:  www.wharfedaleuniforms.com

The waterproofs can be purchased online: http://www.raindrops.co.uk/waterproof-trousers-dungarees/

Please supply you child with hats, gloves and wellingtons as we will be outside a lot.

The school runs a uniform shop. Parents kindly donate good quality clothing that is too small for their son or daughter and the school sell it to raise funds. If you have something to donate please leave it in the school office. If you would like to purchase any items from the school shop please contact the office on 01943 865575.

Holiday Care

Our Nursery is now open for 50 weeks of the year for children aged two to four and is available during the school holiday breaks, subject to availability. The spaces are filled by children who already attend for 50 weeks of the year. The costs and timings are the same as a regular Pre-School day and lunch and snacks are included.

Supported by staff the children know and trust, the children experience a variety of fun and learning experiences that follow the Early Years Foundation Stage principals.

Activities are planned using a ‘learning through play’ approach and are designed to complement the Ghyll Royd Pre-School schedule.

To book your child in for the next school holiday please contact the school office on 01943 865575.
