“Pupils at Ghyll Royd have the time of their lives – our son has for 8 years! The friendly and caring atmosphere was almost tangible as we walked through the doors. “Our son Max, aged 8 has been incredibly happy at Ghyll Royd School since joining the Nursery aged 3. As all nursery children are involved in the day to day activities within school the transition from Pre-School to Reception was seen as just another term at Ghyll Royd and we have never looked back since.
When Ghyll Royd decided to take girls into the school this left us with a difficult decision with what to do with Sarah. Aged 5 she was happy at her school but we strongly believed that Ghyll Royd could offer as good an education and she would be happier in a co-ed school around her older brother. After many discussions and sleepless nights we decided to move Sarah to Ghyll Royd School and have genuinely never looked back. She has now been at the school over a year and is a different child. She has grown more confident in herself and is loving the new experiences it brings. The teachers and governors have done everything possible to ensure that girls get all the same opportunities as the boys and there has never once been a time we have regretted our decision.
Whilst education is obviously extremely important a happy child is a huge amount to ask for a parent. We have 2 children that love their school, are getting a great learning experience and setting themselves up for a balanced future in secondary education. What more could we ask for?
As a final point I would like to say that I also went to Ghyll Royd School and only wish my experience had been the same as it is today-well done Ghyll Royd.”

“Ghyll Royd is a warm, friendly school, one which encourages each and every child to do their very best. The pupils are to be commended on their manners, their politeness and their obvious pride in their school. The pupils are so well prepared for their secondary school of choice, achieving excellent entrance exam results, many with scholarships. We can’t recommend Ghyll Royd enough. ”

“We were overwhelmed by the family atmosphere when we first looked around Ghyll Royd, and this remains an overriding positive about the school. This environment provides the perfect foundation to develop the individual potential of each individual child, no matter what that is. Ghyll Royd will always look for ways to build the confidence of children and provide them with really important lifeskills that are very much recognised and appreciated by the secondary schools in the area. The children mix really well between all the age groups, with older pupils enjoying helping little one’s with lunch and clubs for example, and and the younger girls and boys appreciating being involved in the older pupils’ games, or being part of a house team for a quiz or sports event.
Ghyll Royd is a very special place.”

“Our children started at Ghyll Royd just over a term ago and from day 1 they have both loved it. The school has helped grow their confidence and has given them the opportunity to take part in so many different activities and new learning experiences. The staff and the other parents have been so welcoming and supportive – we couldn’t have asked for any more!”

“Our oldest son already attended another school in the area but when they shut their pre-school we had a dilemma as to what to do with our younger son – keep him at nursery another year or move both children to Ghyll Royd. We had no problems deciding that our youngest son should start in the Pre-School but agonised over whether to move our eldest from a school he had settled into. Our eldest son used to be shy and quiet. After a few years at his previous school he had just started to show his true colours and we didn’t want to set him back by moving him. Eventually we made the decision to move both children to Ghyll Royd and have never looked back. We as parents couldn’t have been supported more in settling our boys in. Parents were on hand to give advice on the practical things, the staff were available to talk to and provide reassurance that my boys had settled in and all the children were polite, friendly and willing to help Josh and Casper settle into the school routine. Although Josh, our eldest, did struggle for a few weeks, he soon started to show his true colours again! My only regret is not discovering Ghyll Royd sooner.”
