About
Ghyll Royd School is an independent preparatory school which provides quality, tailor made and continuous education and care for girls and boys and aged 2 – 11 years. Children join our Pre-School, progressing to Reception at age 4 within the main school, until leaving us to begin their secondary school education at age 11.
Established over one hundred years ago, Ghyll Royd School is set in a magnificent and recently renovated Victorian manor house, situated in six acres. The grounds provide Ghyll Royd with excellent sports fields and outdoor play facilities which include an allotment and chicken coop and create the perfect environment for your child’s development and learning.
“Ghyll Royd School successfully meets its aims. It provides a good education for its pupils and ensures that they are thoroughly enjoying their time in school and gain in self-confidence and self-esteem. All pupils make good progress and their attainment is above and sometimes well above that expected for their ages and abilities. The provision made for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is outstanding.” (Ofsted 2008).
Ghyll Royd offers an outstanding academic, sporting and musical curriculum and our aim is to inspire your child with a love of learning, to give them a strong belief in their own potential and to encourage them to maximise their capabilities.
Conveniently situated on the A65 on the outskirts of Ilkley, Ghyll Royd is ideally located for families living or working in the surrounding towns and villages of Menston, Otley, Addingham, Ilkley and Guiseley. However we are delighted that increasing numbers of children are now also joining us from Baildon, Bingley, Skipton, Keighley and Harrogate .
