The boys learning at Ghyll Royd is guided by the English National Curriculum with some changes and additions to enhance the teaching and learning taking place.
Teachers carefully plan to ensure that all the necessary learning objectives are met, and stimulating schemes of work provide an interesting and challenging programme of study that is particularly geared towards the interests of boys.
Curriculum changes are also made in preparation for the boys sitting the entrance examinations of the local Grammar Schools at the end of year 6 and boys from year 3 upwards have weekly lessons in verbal and non verbal exercises in preparation.
At Ghyll Royd we provide a programme of learning to equip the boys with the skills and knowledge needed in today’s ever changing society. Teachers acknowledge that boys have different learning styles and the boys benefit from a variety of approaches.
We believe in helping the boys to achieve their potential in all areas and set targets and differentiated activities to ensure that their individual needs are catered for. |
