Many exciting developments have taken place over the last few years which have helped to ensure that Ghyll Royd continues to be a leader in education in the Wharfe Valley.

Ghyll Royd has recently opened its doors to girls which has stimulated a great deal of interest. Parents recognise the tremendous reputation Ghyll Royd has built up for educating boys and recognise the fantastic opportunity now open for girls. We have always prided ourselves on meeting individual children's needs and are equally committed to providing a top quality education for girls. Parents are quickly recognising this opportunity and the whole school community has warmly welcomed its first Ghyll Royd girls.

We have also now launched our 'Babes in the Wood', Day Nursery for children aged three months to two and a half years and have been delighted with the response. We are currently being inundated with enquiries and our first four registrations on the 5th January have now increased, at the beginning of February, to twenty. All our staff are in place and our new children have settled extremely well and are having a wonderful time.Parents interested in securing a place are advised to quickly contact the school before places are filled and they are left feeling disappointed.

Not a school for sitting still and on the strength of our respnse from parents, Ghyll Royd is also starting its Navigators Club, a unique holiday club for Nursery and Reception aged children running for 50 weeks of the year and closing for only two weeks at Christmas.

Ghyll Royd now boasts a wonderful multi purpose hall, incorporating cricket nets and marked out for a variety of sports including basketball, tennis, badminton and volleyball. This tremendous facility has enabled the school to extend the variety and amount of sport on offer and the children have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sporting activities. The hall doubles up as a theatre at performance time when the tent and stage go up and the mobile lighting rigs help to create a professional venue. This facility is available for community use and interested organisations and groups need to contact the school if they are interested in hiring it.

Other recent developments at Ghyll Royd include the extension to both its indoor and outdoor Nursery provision. An extensive state of the art outdoor classroom has been created enabling the children constant access to a stimulating learning environment out in the fresh air and in all weather. Internally the Nursery has now extended into a second classroom area giving the children plenty of room to explore and learn.

The Governors and staff at Ghyll Royd are committed to providing the highest quality of education and care for their children and we have a number of other exciting projects in the pipeline.
